This what we caniacs call the "Skinner Treatment"

We could give you Cliff Pu and a 3rd for him. Interested? He would make an excellent scoring mate for Svech.

There's a pretty good chance he could be had for the proverbial bag of pucks at this point just to get away from the contract.

I think Neal on that line with Janko and Bennett is the best place for him. It also keeps Ryan on the fourth line. If they can deal him they should try and get a physical winger who can put up 20 - 30 points a season....cant ask for much more than that....maybe Ferly?

The line of Jankowski, Bennett, and Neal has been looking better over the last 3-4 games, and they’ve started to show more signs of chemistry with it showing on the score sheet.
I’d agree it’s better to keep them together and keep Ryan on the 4th line. Ryan just ruins any chemistry on whatever line he’s on.

Wonder what we could sell Chia. Sounds like he is pretty desperate.

The consensus seems to be that as the trade deadline approaches, the Flames could use a third pairing left D and some size/toughness up front. Looking at who will likely be sellers at the deadline, I think we should target the Rangers. How about this?

To Calgary:
Chris Kreider (LW, 6"3', 216 lbs. 21 goals, 12 assists & 33 pts, 32 PIMS, 27 yrs old). Not a rental - $4,000,000.00 in 2019 - 20. UFA in 2020 - 21.
Brendan Smith (LD - left shot, 6"2', 195 lbs. 2 goals, 6 assists & 8 pts, 42 PIMS, 29 yrs old) Not a rental - $4,500,000.00 in 2019 - 20, $3, 350,000.00 in 2020 - 21.

To NYR:
Oliver Kylington, Spencer Foo, 1st Round pick in 2019.
Possibly add Mangiapane in place of Foo if Rangers don't want Foo.

There could be salary issues for the Flames next season as they need to sign Tkachuk and Bennett; so they deal with that (trades?) in the off season, but this trade would address 2 areas that they need to tweak going into the playoffs. Forward depth with size & experience, and LD with size and experience.
Rangers get an A+ defense prospect who skates like the wind already playing well in the league, + a first round pick, + a young B forward prospect.

Thoughts?

The Flames aren't trading for anyone that isn't a rental and can't afford to give up their first unless they're getting someone like a Panarin back.

Kylington is also a B+ prospect at best. If he's your metric for an A+ prospect, then there are hundreds of A+ prospects out there.

If they feel that they have a legit chance at the Cup this year, they can afford to give up their 2019 first (which currently would be a 30th overall pick).

I disagree that they stick to rentals - if they find what they need available in a non rental, then they go for it. Tre will work his magic in the off season and straighten out their salary cap concerns.

Obviously, I value Kylington higher than you do.

magiapane and foo yeah sure why not. But no to kylington. Along with Anderson and valamaki hanifin there is our defence of the future hard to come by keep him

Phillips/Mangiapane, Gawdin/Foo, and a 2nd for Puljujarvi and a 1st?🤔

Edit: How about Frolik? Love the guy, but we would get younger and a 1st rounder if we throw in Mangiapane and Gawdin.

So Frolik, Mangiapane, and a 2nd/3rd for Puljujarvi and a 1st.?

They will have to expose at least one (maybe 2) of their stacked D in the Seattle expansion draft next year - so why not trade one of them now for something of value who can help us win the Cup, instead of losing one of them - for nothing - to Seattle. Flames will not be able to protect the 4 D that you named unless they expose Brodie, Gio or Hamonic - and that is not good.

This trade would address short term needs for a cup run, while maximizing long term assets by getting something for our youth now, instead of nothing - next year.

Nobody is taking Neal at this point. Currently, he is an Albatross - unless he gets on a hot streak and re-establishes himself as a valuable commodity. We are stuck with him. I still maintain hope that he will get on a roll as the playoffs approach - or in the Playoffs.
